Christine is an Australian artist and author. Her practice includes painting, drawing, illustration, writing, photography and book design.
Recent and upcoming work explores vibrations and rhythms of colour, light, words and sound; considers weather, landscape, cycles and place; and meditates on the radical, living beauty of the cosmos and planet Earth.
Christine’s artwork has been exhibited at Art-Work Agency, Metro Arts, Percolator Gallery, Robyn Bauer Gallery, RAW Space, The View Factory, North Stores, Lundberg Gallery and oneB Gallery at M-Arts Precinct, and is included in many private collections across Australia. She has a two-week residency at the Tweed Regional Gallery and Margaret Olley Art Centre in February 2024 as part of the Nancy Fairfax Artist in Residence program.
Christine has written and illustrated three picture books for children, all published by UQP. Bea (2013), Sylvia (2014) and Bertha and Bear (2017) have each been shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards, and Sylvia was the winner of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2015 Children Food Books.
With chef Brenda Fawdon, Christine co-authored Eat Local: Food, Farming and Conversation in the Scenic Rim Volume 1 (2016) and Volume 2 (2018). She’s delivered author talks and readings, and has been a guest panellist, workshop facilitator and presenter at literary festivals, libraries and schools.
In March 2023 Christine independently published Supernatural: Beach to Bush. The project was supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. The book was launched alongside an exhibition of the same name – Supernatural: Beach to Bush – featuring abstract paintings, inspired by the sky and landscapes of the region.
Christine holds a Master of Arts (Research) in Writing for Youth & Children, QUT (2010); a Graduate Diploma in Creative Industries, Creative Writing (Graduating with Distinction), QUT (2007); and an Associate Diploma of Expressive and Performing Arts, UNSW (1991), studying drama, contemporary dance, communication, visual art and music.
From May 2021 to July 2023, Christine painted and exhibited artwork at her Studio + Stockroom in the North Stores food, art and nature precinct on Tamborine Mountain, QLD. The studio is now closed; however, Christine has a new studio in Pottsville, NSW. Feel welcome to get in touch to arrange a visit to view her artwork.
